No Parking . . Not ever?

It is Friday and Fridays are for fun.   Parking on  St. Paul streets is very complicated.  The part about stopping the car and getting out is the easy part.  I often park my car and sit inside and read signs.   On the particular block of Grand Avenue where I found these signs there wasn’t any place I could park that would not be in between two signs.  There really isn’t any place on the street in the entire city that a person can park without being in between two signs. 

The sign poles with three or four signs are the most confusing.  Does the message on one sign override the message on another or does one modify the meaning of another?  Someti

Unknown Torontonians: Jane Jacobs

Born in Pennsylvania in 1916, Jane Jacobs gained recognition in both the United States and, later, Canada, as a writer and activist, focusing primarily on urban development and planning policies. Although she was never formally trained in architecture or urban planning, many of the insights set out in Jacob’s most famous work (The Death and Life of Great American Cities, published in 1961) are still studied and even taken for granted today. In direct opposition to the ‘top-down’ planning styles popular at the time, Jacobs advocated diverse, dense, multi-use neighbourhoods with sidewalks and strong local economies.

American Realty Capital Healthcare Trust Acquires Medical Portfolio for $61M

American Realty Capital Healthcare Trust, a New York-based property investment trust, acquired three medical office properties located in Phoenix, AZ, Carson City, NV, and Las Vegas. This portfolio was purchased from The Cirrus Group LLC for $60.9 million, or about $788 per square foot. The portfolio will be used as an investment. The seller is a developer which typically sells its medical properties to institutional investors after the properties are stabilized. This portfolio was approximately 92% leased at the time of sale.
